Celebrity Gossip: Celeb Penelope Cruz Talks Insecurities
Even movie stars such as Penelope Cruz feel insecure at times. The gorgeous actress has been recently promoting her new film, “Broken Embraces,” at the Cannes Film Festival in France and insists that she needs to feel “scared” to do her Oscar winning best.
“Every time I am making a movie I feel insecure, and I feel scared, and that’s part of the way I work-if one day I would be on the set feeling too secure, that would really scare me,” the Spanish actress explained.
“Broken Embraces” stars 35-year-old Penelope playing as an actress who is stuck in the middle of her film director lover, Pedro Almodovar, and a rich, coldblooded businessman.
The movie mixes comedy and drama, but Penelope says the comedy in the film was harder to perform than the drama.
“It’s a very delicate and subtle tone, especially with Pedro,” she said. “He’s like an orchestra director -very, very precise.”

She has always loved sharing her talent with the world, and earlier today (May 19) Penelope Cruz was spotted at the Cannes Film Festival screening of “Broken Embraces.”
The “Vicky Cristina Barcelona” babe looked lovely as she posed for the paparazzi outside the Grand Theatre Luminere, sporting a beautiful strapless lilac dress.
Also joining Miss Cruz were director Pedro Almodovar (this is his fourth film with Cruz), actor Lluis Homar, and actress Rossy de Palma.
Earlier in the day, Penelope was spotted hamming it up at the film’s photo call, posing for the paparazzi and chatting with the press.

Feeling better following a reported food poisoning sickness, Penelope Cruz was spotted at a photo call for her new film “Los Abrazos Rotos” at the 2009 Cannes Film Festival today (May 19).
The “Vanilla Sky” hottie looked absolutely breathtaking as she posed with her pal/the film’s director Pedro Almodovar in a sexy strapless beige dress with peep-toe heels.
“Los Abrazos Rotos” is the fourth film collaboration between Miss Cruz and Mr. Almodovar, who has cited Penelope as a muse.
And Pedro takes his movie making very seriously, as he recently told press, “I fully believe that cinema can make life more perfect.” It’s no wonder he loves to work with Penelope Cruz.

Believe it or not, celebrities aren’t perfect all the time - and Penelope Cruz is the latest celeb to attest to that.
The “Vicky Christina Barcelona” babe reportedly caught a stomach bug while in Cannes, France for the annual film fest, and was forced to miss out on the premiere of “Broken Embraces” along with some promotional duties for her upcoming musical, “Nine.”
Reports are saying the Spanish actress may have had food poisoning, but after a visit to the doctor she should be back in fine health by Tuesday.
Cruz’s film, “Nine,” will premiere in November and includes fellow stars Nicole Kidman, Kate Hudson and Fergie.
