Bold & The Beautiful Celeb Aishwarya Rai Checks Out Premiere of “Spring Fever”
Stepping out for Day 2 of the Cannes Film Festival, Aishwarya Rai was back out on the red carpet for “Spring Fever” on Thursday (May 14).
Accompanied by husband Abhishek Bachcha, the Bollywood beauty looked her usual elegant self as she posed for photographers before heading inside to check out the new drama starring Qin Hao and Wu Wei.
Meanwhile, Miss Rai and her hubby spent the earleir part of the day dressed a little more casually as they attended the Cinema Verite 2009 Press Conference.
Taking place at the luxurious Hotel Martinez, Aishwarya joined Queen Noor of Jordan in announcing the third edition of the International Tribunes Cinema Verite event to take place in Genevaand Paris in October 2009.
According to The Hindu, “Cinema Verite is a special film event dedicated to films and social actions that promote human rights and the eight Millennium Development Goals adopted by the United Nations.”
Slumdog Child Star’s House Gets Razed
Slumdog Millionaire’s little guy Azharuddin Mohammed Ismail had a very tough night.
City workers in Mumbai bulldozed the home of the child star, along with 30 other small homes as part of the demolition of shanties in Mumbai slum.
Reports have claimed that Azhar was asleep when a cop woke him up and told him to get out of his home. Later, his house and others around it were all destroyed.
The event happened Thursday morning when cops and city workers came as part of the “slum demolition drive,” which is common in India. Reports say that India does it to “keep crowding under control.”
Azhar explained that, “A police officer took a bamboo stick to him me, and I was frightened.”
Azhar’s mother has lived in the town for over 15 years and explained that she still had no legal right to her land.
“They didn’t give prior notice. We didn’t even get a chance to take out our belongings. I don’t know what I am going to do,” Azhar’s mother told during this hard time.
Bombay Municipal Corporations claim that they only demolished illegally built shanties and ones that were not legally owned. It was all part of a “pre-monsoon demolition drive.”
Continuing about the incident, they said, “They were removed. That is the principle,” also mentioning that those who have lived their longer than 15 years will be relocated into government-built housing.

Back on the east coast after a short stay in Los Angeles, Hilary Duff attended the lighting ceremony at the Empire State Building in new York City on Thursday (May 14).
The “Stay Cool” cutie was on-hand to pull the lever - which beamed out a bright red light in honor of the AIDS walk taking place in the Big Apple.
“In tough times, it’s even more important for people to get involved,” Duff said in a statement prior to her charitable visit. “Everyone should find a cause they believe in whether it is something in your local community or something as big a global issue as AIDS.”
Talking about the event, Marjorie J. Hill, chief executive officer of GMHC, explained, “From sunset to midnight on Thursday, New Yorkers will see the solid red color, synonymous with AIDS awareness, beaming from the building. The red lights will serve as a reminder that AIDS is still a matter of great urgency in New York and throughout the United States.”

Looking more and more like a bona fide couple, ex-spouses Pink and Carey Hart were spotted grabbing some breakfast at Mel’s Diner this morning (May 14).
The “So What?” songstress and her BMX beau looked to be having a wonderful time together as they strolled out of the Van Nuys eatery until Pink noticed the paparazzi and flipped them off.
Last night (May 13) the duo, who are planning an Australian tour together, spent some more quality time with yet another outing in Beverly Hills.
They headed into Barney’s New York department store for some retail therapy before grabbing and early dinner at Real Food Daily.
When asked if she and Hart planned to remarry, Pink previously replied: “I don’t know where the remarriage thing came from. That kind of came out of the air. We are definitely back together.”
“We never really legally got divorced. Paperwork for both of us is really annoying. So we’re choosing to be together,” she adds. “Labels have never been our thing, so we’re just diving into that empty swimming pool, head first.”
